Chew's Yard packs in an exciting programme of events to mark their official May opening

25 April 2024

Following on from the success of its 12 Days of Christmas Pop-Up, Chew's Yard is set to make an exciting return to Preston permanently.

With the vision of bringing something refreshingly independent to Preston's food, drink and entertainment sector, Preston-born designer Ben Casey, together with cultural visionary Christine Cort, has created a venue to complement the city's cultural offering.

Chew's Yard will open on Thursday 2 May at midday, with a packed programme of events. The opening night sees singer-songwriter Rachel Waring getting the party started with upbeat, acoustic numbers followed by a spectacular explosion of colour and music as Lancaster's 25 strong drumming group Samba Espirito, get the party going with a parade along Market Street West, starting at Chain House Brewing at 7pm and finishing at Chew's Yard.

An exciting mix of live music, DJs, family-friendly events and creative sessions will be hosted in the events space. The Chew's Yard Market is set to return on Saturday 4 May, inviting artists, makers, crafts-people, photographers and creatives to sell their wares from 12pm - 5pm.

The newest addition to the venue, is the beautiful landscaped garden courtyard with an outdoor bar. On warm days, this peaceful green oasis, with a south-west facing aspect, will be the place to escape, capture the sunshine and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat from noon until night.

Fantastic food and drink

Set within Chew's Yard's thoughtfully redesigned industrial workshops the food and drink hall will feature a host of independent traders:

Trough

Trough grazing pouch

From the founders of Goosnargh Gin, Richard and Rachel Trenchard's spin-off Trough is bringing some of the very best of British produce in their carefully curated grazing options.

Featuring charcuterie from Porcus, cheeses from The Crafty Cheese Man and Mrs Kirkham's, and seafood from Lancaster Smokehouse, these are the perfect options to tuck into while enjoying the Chew's Yard vibes. There will also be a few lighter bites as well.

Want something to wash that down with? Trough has you covered too. Trough will be serving Goosnargh Gin's range of award-winning small batch gins, as well as a number of refreshing gin spritzes. And if you're in the mood for a gin cocktail, Trough will be serving an exciting range from their new bar set-up as well.

Seitanic

Seitanic pizza

Following the success at the Christmas pop-up, the team at Seitanic is thrilled to announce the grand opening of their Preston plant-based kebab venture at Chew's Yard! At our pop-up Jordan astounded customers with his plant-based menu that tastes as good as it looks. He is expanding this venture into vegan dining and plans to tantalise your taste buds with his mouth-watering lineup of irresistible plant-based shawarma/doner style kebabs and loaded fries with all the fixings. Jordan is passionate about every aspect of his menu and all the ingredients are ethically sourced and carefully picked to maximise flavour. Stay tuned for more updates and join us on this delicious journey!

Chamo

Chamo South American inspired street food

Another Chew's Yard favourite from the 12 Days of Christmas Pop-Up is Chamo and we're absolutely delighted to be welcoming the lads back! Since opening its doors in September 2023, Chamo has quickly established itself as a go-to destination for quality, affordable street food, climbing to the very top of Preston's restaurant rankings on TripAdvisor. Located at 37 Moor Lane, just a short walk from the university, Chamo is the vision of three local lads looking to bring some fresh ideas to Preston's street-food scene. Chamo draws on inspiration from the lively flavours of South America, while adding their own unique twist.

Two Guns

Two Guns pizza

New kids on the block, Two Guns will be bringing the energy and vibe of the Detroit pizza scene to Preston but with Italian foundations. Packed with attitude, from their caramelised frico crowns, bubbly light chewy bases and melted cheese blends. They top things off with burratas, signature Nonna Sauce and locally sourced charcuterie and ingredients.

And it doesn't stop there! Two Guns will be bringing Italian flavours with antipasto like toasted focaccia with gorgonzola whip and hot honey, Parmesan and Nduja fries as well as drizzly salads and a next level dipping sauce game.

Authentically, Two Guns Detroit style pizzas are all double fermented and baked fresh; traditionally in individual blue steel tins. Whether you want to load up and grab a hot corner slice at the counter or settle in and share full pizzas with friends and family.

Escapade

Selection of drinks

As well as delicious food, Chew's Yard will also have you covered on the drinks front. After the success of their bar offering at Chew's Yard's Christmas Pop-Up, we are excited to be welcoming Escapade back!

Escapade are partnering with Thornbridge who are supplying four exciting draft options. Pioneers of the modern craft beer revolution since 2005, Thornbridge have been at the forefront of the British beer scene. Their famous Jaipur (a 5.9% IPA packed with American hops) will be served alongside Lukas (a 4.2% Helles lager), Green Mountain (a 4.3% hazy session IPA) and a seasonal fourth beer which will regularly change. After a tasty trip to their Bakewell brewery, we can confirm these beers are of the highest quality and we are honoured to pour these at Chew's Yard. We are also pleased to confirm that there will be a range of zero and low percent beers (and other beverages) available at the Escapade bars.

Coffee lovers celebrate!

The amazing Escapade bars will be serving Atkinsons Coffee. The coffee roasters from Lancaster have a rich legacy, established 180 years ago it sits on a wealth of tea and coffee heritage so you can expect the highest quality speciality coffee when you pop into Chew's Yard for a brew.
