4. Valentines Coffee and Cake - Ribble Steam Railway

Date/time: Saturday 17 February 2024 (11am - 5pm)

Price: £12.50 - £15

Come and join Ribble Steam Railway for a Valentines celebration with your loved one. They will be running their Top and Tail trains throughout the day with a steam engine on the front and a diesel engine at the back. In the morning they will be serving coffee and cake in their restored 1950's buffet car. Tickets include entrance to the wonderful museum and all day travel on other trains.

5. Alison's Valentines Cream Tea - Ribble Steam Railway

Enjoy Alison's Cream Tea on a steam train. Come and join Ribble Steam Railway for a Valentines celebration with your loved one. They will be running their Top and Tail trains throughout the day, with a steam engine on the front and a diesel engine at the back. In the afternoon they will be serving Alison's Cream tea in their restored 1950s buffet car, complete with a glass of prosecco on arrival (non alcoholic alternative available).

6. A Tale of Elizabethan Love and Tragedy - Samlesbury Hall

Date: Thursday 1 to Thursday 29 February

Price: Free

A brand-new art installation will tell a 16th century tale of love beyond the grave at Samlesbury Hall in February 2024.

Lancashire's most haunted hall will celebrate the season of love with an art installation presenting the tragic tale of two 16th century star-crossed lovers.

Three rooms at the Hall will feature a fictional series of hand-written 'love letters' between Lady Dorothea Southworth and her lover Richard De Hoghton.  The installation is inspired by the famous Lancashire story of two religiously opposed families whose respective daughter and son met secretly during an era of religious persecution.

7. Valentine's Day Bowling - Level

If you and your date fancy a minimal fuss casual outing, then bowling makes a great choice. Enjoyable, affordable and a great way to keep those awkward silences at bay, it makes a particularly good first date option.

8. Take a trip to the cinema
