Independent Shopping in Preston

Step aside from the hustle and bustle of Fishergate and Friargate, Preston's main high streets, and you will discover a treasure trove of independent shops pocketed away down quaint side streets. Off the beaten track you will find an eclectic mix of cafés, salons, jewellers, and boutiques selling unique and one-off items; from vintage and retro fashion to homeware and everything in between.

Cheapside and Church Street

You will find Cheapside just off Fishergate, home to Preston Flag Market and the Harris Museum Art Gallery and Library . Not only does the museum's gift shop sell Preston souvenirs and gifts, it also sells lovely handmade and one-of-a-kind items from local crafters. Cheapside is also home to Thos Yates Jeweller, founded in 1822 and tucked inside a stunning building from the 1500s.

Where Fishergate high street transitions into Church Street, you will find gems such as Action Records - an independent record shop and a haven for music enthusiasts. Church street also houses niche independent stores, including a fishing store.

Cannon Street

The captivating Cannon Street is a must-visit for shoppers, due to its fair share of boutiques, such as Retrogue Vintage Clothing, and original cafés. Down here you will find a range of food and refreshments, such as appetising full English breakfasts from Ravenous to set you up for the day and speciality teas from the Tea House

This beautiful period-style cobbled street is home to independent gift shops, unique bars, and tantalising places to eat - serving dishes from all corners of the world. Places to eat and drink include the authentic Korean restaurant Kimji and the contemporary bar Forum.

With its own independent gift shop and renowned florist, Winckley Street also makes a fantastic visit for gifts and for treating yourself.
