The Preston Cenotaph is a sight to behold and a must visit for those searching for historical things to do or those with an interest in architecture. The structure is hard to miss, towering over Preston Flag Market outside the Harris Museum Art Gallery and Library .

The Preston Cenotaph was designed by famous English architect, Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who also designed Britain's iconic red telephone box. After undergoing a restoration project in 2013, the memorial is now one of the most impressive free-standing war memorials in the country. With its scale and sophistication, the Cenotaph is a true architectural gem; standing proud in recognition of the some 2000 men tragically lost during the First World War.

The Roll of Honour - Harris Museum and Art Gallery

After visiting the Preston Cenotaph, be sure to head across to the Harris Museum where you will find the Roll of Honour, listing the 1,956 men in Preston who lost their lives.

The Roll of Honour is located on the ground floor, in two sections, on the staircases facing the entrance door. The names are inscribed on marble tablets and begin with the men of the Royal Navy listed in alphabetical order, followed by the regiments in alphabetical order.
